Co-Processing of Rejects Waste
Kerala-LoGE’s first project aims to systematically collect and process recyclable waste materials such as Multi-Layered Plastics (MLP), discarded footwear, bags, thermocol, waste textiles, and other non-biodegradable waste. The project will involve extensive collaboration with Local Self Government Institutions, government offices, private enterprises, and industrial estates to ensure efficient waste collection.
The collected waste will be sorted, processed, and transported to cement factories for co-processing. This method utilizes non-recyclable waste as an Alternative Fuel and Raw Material (AFR) in cement kilns, reducing landfill accumulation and lowering the demand for conventional fossil fuels. By integrating advanced waste management strategies, this initiative will contribute to a cleaner environment while supporting sustainable industrial practices.
To ensure efficiency, Kerala-LoGE will establish dedicated collection points and deploy specialized teams for waste segregation and logistics. Regular awareness campaigns will also be conducted to educate stakeholders about the benefits of responsible waste disposal. Additionally, incentives will be provided to encourage waste generators to actively participate in the program, thereby fostering a long-term sustainable waste management model in Kerala.
Key Benefits of the Project:
- Waste Diversion: Reduces landfill burden by repurposing non-biodegradable waste for industrial applications.
- Environmental Sustainability: Minimizes pollution by ensuring responsible waste disposal and reducing reliance on virgin raw materials.
- Energy Efficiency: Utilizes waste as an alternative fuel, lowering dependency on fossil fuels in cement production.
- Economic Growth: Creates business opportunities in waste collection, processing, and transportation sectors.
- Employment Generation: Provides jobs in waste management, logistics, and industrial processing, benefiting local communities.
- Government Collaboration: Supports municipalities and local authorities in achieving effective waste management and environmental sustainability goals.
